Peles Castle in Sinaia
Peles Castle is the most impressive castle in Romania and a must-see attraction if you're passionate about stories of royalty, magnificent architecture and history.
The summer residence of the royal family until 1948 when it was confiscated by the communist regime, the castle from Sinaia is today one of the most stunning castles in Europe.
This Neo-Renaissance castle was built by King Carol I who took vacations here in the 1860s.
With its spectacular beauty, sitting on a Carpathian hillside, this fairy-tale-like edifice is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. A 4,000-piece weapons collection reflects the king's military interests, while a movie room decorated with frescoes reflects the queen's artistic taste. The first movie shown in Romania premiered here.
